About the RNZAF Tug

All capable Air Forces need a quick and easy way to get their aircraft ready for flight. One process involved in preparing aircraft for flight is removing them from their hangars and onto the flight line. This is usually done via the use of Tugs, similar in concept to Steam Tugs seen in docks and harbours. These vehicles typically connect to the aircraft's front landing gear, pulling them out of their Hangar/storage space and moving them to the flight line, removing the need to use the aircraft's own engines to move it about. Based on multiple types used during the mid-1980s to mid-1990s, this Tug has been seen in many photos pulling A-4K and TA-4K type aircraft out of their Hangars and out onto the tarmac for operational or demonstration flights.
