Designed for a 1937 Basic Combat Trainer competition, the NA-26, redesignated as the AT-6 and later T-6 after its adoption by the USAAC, is an advanced single-seat trainer aircraft. With over 15,000 units produced of various models, the 'Texan' (or 'Harvard' when referring to Commonwealth-owned T-6's) was used by a multitude of countries before, during and after the Second World War. Used to train pilot's in more advanced flying, the T-6 would also see use by various countries in combat, such as those used by USAAF as forward air control aircraft over Korea and to an extent, the Vietnam conflict. Now, dozens of 'Texans' and 'Harvards' continue to fly, by both private owners, museums and airshows, with many operators offering bookings for flights in the iconic trainer.
