About the SAS 4x4 / Special Air Service Vehicle

Formed in July 1941 by David Stirling - Son of Brigadier General Archibald Stirling - the SAS was meant to fill the boots of a 'ghost' detachment, created as a rouse by British intelligence to trick the Germans and Italians into believing there were several paratroopers regiments active in the North African Campaign. During their opening days, members of the SAS "L" Detachment attacked multiple important German and Italian positions across the Egyptian Coast, such as the airfields of Bagush and Sidi Haneish. During these raids, members of "L" Detachment would utilize whatever vehicles they could find, such as the iconic Willy's Jeep 4x4, which they would use until the end of the war both in North Africa and in Europe.
